No other team in the NFL has been surrounded by more media attention this offseason than the Minnesota Vikings. Even though the Vikings are pretty good about not having players in the news for all the wrong reasons like off the field trouble, the Brett Favre saga and constant waffling has kept the Vikings frequently in the sports headlines.

Well, the wait is finally over with the Brett Favre finally deciding to come back one more season under center for the Minnesota Vikings after three teammates flew out to Mississippi to convince him to comeback, but even though all the attention has been directed towards Favre’s return and still is, one of his favorite wide receivers in the offense is really hurting right now as Percy Harvin is still dealing with some extremely painful migraines.

During the Minnesota Vikings inspired run to the NFC championship game against the eventual Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints last season, Percy Harvin became one of the team’s best receivers in just his rookie season and ended up being the Offensive Rookie of the Year for his effort.

Even though the Harvin’s play was much better than anticipated last season, the former Florida Gators standout was dealing with migraines basically all season long, but even though he was in pain for most of the year, he fought through and still finish the year as one of the league’s best rookies on the offensive side of the football.

This season the migraines have begun to flare up once again for the promising young wideout as he sat out the majority of training camp due to the recent death of his Grandmother and the fact that the migraines have continued to bother him.

Unfortunately, the Minnesota Vikings became sick and tired of playing the waiting game with the Percy Harvin as they were leaning towards moving on without him this season, but after being given an ultimatum, Harvin came back to practice.

Despite the Minnesota Vikings being content without one of their best wide receivers back on the practice field, especially with Pro Bowler Sidney Rice still out with a hip injury, bringing back Harvin seemed to be a mistake as he suffered a serious migraine on the sidelines in practice and collapsed.

After Harvin collapsed on the field, the reigning Offensive Rookie of the Year was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and his playing status for the upcoming regular season remains uncertain at best.

Although Harvin turned out to be alright after being sent to the hospital, Percy’s future moving forward will be a big question mark for Vikings head coach Brad Childress and he will have to decide how to use him during the rest of the preseason.

For the time being, Percy Harvin will not be receiving anytime on the gridiron during the preseason to avoid any further injury, but the Vikings still don’t know how serious these migraines will be through the regular season.
